Warning: It is possible for a SCORM Package to send user data to somewhere other than the LMS. If you are working with a third-party vendor that will host the student’s SCORM data on their server, please reach out to UNM Canvas Support before adding that SCORM package to your course to ensure it complies with federal and institutional privacy regulations and requirements. This may require a review from UNM Purchasing and UNM IT Information Security and Privacy Office to ensure vendor compliance and meet UNM guidelines.

While UNM can provide very little support for SCORM, the SCORM player allows instructors to present their SCORM packaged multimedia presentations to a course. A SCORM package can be built in a variety of applications such as Captivate, Articulate Storylines, and Camtasia. Instructors can upload SCORM packages into a course and use them as either graded or ungraded assignments. The SCORM player will track user progress and pass interactions and grades to the gradebook.

The SCORM player is integrated which means you can enable it in your course navigation by managing your Course Navigation Links. Once the tool has been enabled in your course, you can use these instructions to upload the SCORM package as an assignment. Teaching Assistants are unable to access the SCORM tool. Only users with the Teacher or Designer role can use it.
